PERFORMANCE

KATKATHA

Katkatha' presents its new children’s show

Teelapur Ka Rakshasha

on 5th, 6th September at 6.30 p.m. and 5.p.m. respectively.

The show is a co-production supported by Helios Theatre, Hamm, Germany

Teelapur is a town on a hill. A perfectly ordinary town, ruled over by an extremely popular King. A town which people leave in droves, in fear of a monster that terrifies it. A town at war, where people are banned from reading books of their choice. In this town lives Guddu, separated from his family after the monster's attack. In this town lives Chhotu, who reads books in secret, and asks dangerous questions. When Teelapur's warriors return from a war they no longer understand, they join hands with Chhotu and Guddu to take on the monster.

THE POMEGRANATE WORKSHOP

Pomegranate SWERVE presents Antigone 24x7, a play entirely re-imagined by young adult actors and writers!

What has Sophocles' 500 BC tragic heroine, Antigone, been doing during the lockdown? We beam her right down to the present entirely reimagined by young adult actors and writers (17-19 years) who inhabit the lives of characters, some of them no older than themselves in this classical Greek tragedy. Rife with curfews and isolation as the world falls apart around them, they struggle to keep up shards of relationships and ideals. Bringing alive a universal text and setting it right in the middle of a lockdown, these performers shape a new way of theatre that transcends the stage and enters our homes

Produced entirely as a Zoom Play set in the city of Thebes, Antigone 24x7 delves into the motivations of emperor Creon, his son Haemon torn between the love of his life and his father, the daughters of Oedipus determined to protect their family honour and finally Antigone herself, driven by a mission to overcome the odds.

With a hauntingly original music score and an interactive audience experience, Antigone 24/7 is an immersive exploration of the 'virtual' possibilities of theatre.

Directed by Gerish Khemani

This unique online adaptation is by the same cast that adapted and performed the play at NCPA in 2014 and 2016. These teens have literally grown with the play as they adapted it at different points in their growing years and is a unique reflection of their own journeys as young adults

Please Note that this Digital Stream will be followed by a Live Interaction with the Cast and the Director of the play on Zoom

Show Dates: 12th and 13th September
Time: 6pm

For Ages 14 years and above
